Galveston – The Perfect Destination for a Day Trip from Houston

You’ve just moved to Houston or you’re here on vacation and you would like to plan a day trip with your family and friends? Choose Galveston as your destination. This small city charms its visitors with a lovely beach, little stores and great restaurants, and of course the Pleasure Pier, an amusement park which is the perfect attraction for families.

If you’re going to travel in a group, then the best solution is to rent a Houston charter bus to take you there in less than an hour. This way you won’t have to worry about the schedule for public means of transport, who is going to drive, how many cars you should take and, as usual, maps and directions.

Once you get to Galveston you can stroll around without needing any form of transport. The city is quite small and all the attractions can be reached by foot. You should keep your walks limited to the historical district, the port, and the Strand.

The core of Galveston is definitely Seawall Blvd. In the summer, the boulevard gets really crowded due the overwhelming number of tourists who visit the city. The area used to be crossed by streetcars, but unfortunately, Hurricane Ike destroyed the system in 2008, and for the moment, no streetcar is functional. However, there is a possibility to visit the Galveston Island Railroad Museum if you want to find out more about the means of transport in Galveston.

You should also head out to the beach and enjoy this little corner of paradise. Many Houstonians have a beach house here that becomes their retreat during summer.

The city houses a few museums, so if you know you have the time and you are passionate about aviation stories, historical ships and oil platforms, you can visit the Lone Star Flight Museum, Texas Seaport Museum, as well as Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum.

You cannot visit Galveston and not enjoy a ferry ride. The Bolivar ferry will take you for free from Galveston Island to the Bolivar Peninsula and back. You will have the opportunity to admire great views of the bay. The ride will take about 25 minutes.

Last, but not least, the Pleasure Pier will be a great way to spend a few hours if you enjoy amusement parks. You will have access to great rides and amusements, plenty of restaurants and appealing stores. You can easily spend one day in this place and not get bored.

After a fun but tiring day, you will be glad to know that a Houston charter bus Company is waiting to take you home or to your hotel, safe and sound.
